DONATE WITH A CLEAR RECORD A boat donation should not require blind trust.

A simpler, honest way to donate a boat

Your boat.
Your choice.
Clear from start to finish.

Captain’s Charity Boats handles the donor experience: intake, options, honest communication and the distribution record. Harbor-Bid is the auction and sales platform we use to sell accepted boats.

Boat acceptance, pickup, tax treatment and final proceeds depend on review, title, condition, location and sale outcome.

WHY THIS EXISTS

Boat donors deserve choices, answers and a process they can follow.

We build the plan with you before the boat is marketed. You understand your options, where funds are intended to go, what it costs to sell the boat and how the outcome will be documented.

YOU HAVE OPTIONS

Choose where the impact goes.

During review, tell us what matters to you. We will document the intended direction of charitable proceeds before the sales path begins.

01

Choose a qualified organization

Name the organization you want supported, subject to eligibility and review.

02

Let us help match the mission

Tell us the cause you care about—veterans, children, animals, local needs and more.

03

Discuss a shared impact plan

If appropriate, ask about directing support across more than one qualified organization.

YOUR CAUSE, YOUR CALL

Choose a qualified organization that matters to you.

As partners are confirmed, their marks will live here. Until then, the point stays the same: you are not limited to one predetermined cause.

OPTIONS

THE PROCESS

A straightforward route from dock to impact.

1

Tell us about the boat

Share its location, title status, condition and a few photos. We review suitability before making promises.

2

Choose the organization

Select a qualified organization you want supported. We document that choice before the sale path begins.

3

Review the plan

You see the intended sales channel, disclosed service fees and the records we will provide after the sale.

4

Sale & distribution record

Accepted boats can be marketed through Harbor-Bid. We provide a clear record of sale proceeds, costs and charitable distribution.

THE TRANSPARENCY STANDARD

We separate the sale, the service and the charitable support.

Captain’s Charity Boats communicates the plan and donor options. Harbor-Bid is the sales engine: a boat may be listed for a longer sale window or moved to auction when it needs to sell faster. Any service fees, buyer premium and applicable sale expenses are disclosed before listing.

Ask about fees before you begin
A sale-and-distribution record can show:
  1. 01 Gross sale amount
  2. 02 Disclosed Captain’s and Harbor-Bid charges
  3. 03 Sale expenses, if applicable
  4. 04 Amount sent toward the selected qualified organization

Exact terms are confirmed during review. Captain’s Charity Boats is not a tax advisor and does not guarantee tax outcomes.

OUR COMMITMENT

No vague promises. No mystery math. No disappearing act.

Your selected organization is recorded before the boat is sold.

Service fees and buyer premiums are shown before a listing goes live.

A sale-and-distribution record explains where the money went.

We do not promise a tax deduction or acceptance before review.

Questions are welcome before, during and after the sales process.

READY WHEN YOU ARE

Let’s see if your boat is a fit.

Start with the basics. We will explain whether a longer Harbor-Bid listing or an auction path makes sense for the boat—before you commit.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you donate

Is Captain’s Charity Boats a nonprofit?

No. We are a for-profit service with a charitable purpose. The selected organization is the intended charitable beneficiary, subject to review and documented distribution.

Can I choose the organization I want to support?

That is the goal. Tell us the qualified organization you want supported during intake so we can review the fit and record the selection before the sale path begins.

Will my boat donation create a tax deduction?

We cannot promise that. Tax treatment depends on the facts, the recipient organization and applicable law. Consult a qualified tax professional about your situation.
